Schedule Change

Hey, Life After Fifty!

A change in the day for line dance lessons. Our wonderful teachers said they would come and work with us every Thursday in August, if we could change nights. Wow, so we have changed to Thursday night, the first being 8/4 at the community center beginning at 6:30 pm. We are so grateful to Brenda and Larry Darnell and Bob and Mary Hargrove  for their encouragement and patience in teaching our two left feet which way to go and when to go. Just makes for a fun filled night with exercise and laughter galore.  See you Thursday!!

Life After Fifty (LAF) Event

A Planned program for Life After Fifty in Thompson's Station

Riverbend Nurseries located at 2850 Thompson's Station Road E. will host an hour long class on "Summer Color--what's new in summer color and our classic favorites. Speakers will be Amanda McCain and Carolyn George. This is a LAF sponsored class and will begin promptly at 9 am and end at 10 am on June 11th. A great time for seniors to get their hands into the dirt or learn more about the outdoors and gardening from those who have been trained in this area. Plus it is a good exercise activity for each of us. So mark your calendar, call me at 615-791-5835 to reserve a place or e-mail me, katietwo43@bellsouth.net. We have enough space for 25 of you so call ASAP and get your name on the list. This will be a very worthwhile hour for all of us.

Plans are for in depth vegetable gardening in July. So you will want to be tuned to your e-mail/newspaper for more information on this class. Get ready for a good learning experience. If you need directions to Riverbend, you can call them at 790-7900 or cell: 615-394-2980.

Help the Scouts as they help Thompson's Station Park

Hello out there!

Please be ready to take your car to the McDonalds locatin in front of the old Kroger store, now The People's Church. We have scouts working on  Eagle Scout project for Troop 48. They will host a car wash from 9am until 2 pm on Saturday, May 14th. This event will help raise money to build trailhead  kiosks for the new trail extension between Thompson's Station and Heritage Campus. There may be some rain in the sky but if you can catch a time to get that dirty car or truck washed you would be helping others help others. Let's support them!

Thanks

What a great job of cleaning up the highways recently. If only everyone would contain their trash now and put it in the appropriate place, we would make a big difference in the surrounding area. I can't imagine not doing this! Even when our adult children were young. And you know they are passing it on to their young ones! You know it might just be one of those good habits we form along the way.

Anxious to hear how the April 29th trip goes. Comments will be shared I hope.. As of this post there were still 6 spots vacant on the bus.

The correct address is: steve.allbrooks@mail.house.gov or you can just call Marsha Blackburn's office, don't have that number.

Thompson's Station Post Office Changes

Go to www.37179 and learn more about the P.0. Then send an e-mail to Marsha Blackburn via Steve Allsbrooks@mail.house.gov.

Behind

Well, I am not doing so good with this right now, but be patient. Have had some issues this past week that demanded my attention more.

The biggest thing right now is the fact that we, apparently as of 4/9 are loosing most of the staff and carriers at our Thompson's Station Post Office. Apparently the business is downsizing and since our office is leased, it is one to go.

Get in touch with anyone you know who might help us to keep it as it is now.

First LAF Organizational Meetin

We all were really pleased at the attendance we had on the 15th. I believe everyone saw a little of the vision we have for LAF. So many people worked hard to put it together and I have some great pictures of the crowd as soon as I learn how to put them on this page.  Stay tuned, we will have more to come in the weeks ahead.

New Name

Did you see the request for helping to name the "new" grill in downtown Thompson's Station? It is located across from City Hall. Will hopefully be opening sometime in April. I believe it will be a welcomed business. Send a name suggestion to City Hall and you just might win a dinner for 2!!!!

Looking forward to meeting so many of you that I have shared with on the telephone and e-mail. We will begin promptly at 6 pm.

Much to learn

I hope I have't gotten in over my head here. If I have, you will know it. I desire to use this area to talk to you about an exciting thing happening in our town in relationship to the senior citizens age 50 and above. I will share more on this subject as we move forward with plans and ideas, so stay tuned!  With some patience as I struggle thru this new venture.
